Privacy Policy — Aircraft Maintenance Assist
Last updated: 15 September 2026
Aircraft Maintenance Assist ("the App") is a record-keeping tool for aircraft maintenance technicians, for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Its purpose is to let you record your day-to-day maintenance activities on a task-card basis, and to keep, organise and demonstrate the working experience those records represent.
If you hold your own valid account for a supported manufacturer or operator portal, the App can additionally help you cross-reference a task card to the corresponding maintenance document on that portal's website. That is a secondary function: the App is fully usable as a record-keeping tool without any portal account.
This policy explains what the App does and does not do with your information.
In short: the App collects nothing. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no developer-operated server. Everything the App creates stays on your device and, if you enable it, in your own iCloud account.
1. Information we collect
None.
The developer operates no servers and receives no data from the App. There is no account to create with us, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no third-party analytics SDK.
The App does not track you across apps or websites, and contains no code that would allow it to.
2. Information stored on your device
The App stores the following locally, and — when you enable iCloud storage — in your own iCloud Drive:
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Task cards you scan, photograph or import (PDF/image files) | Device storage, or your iCloud Drive | They are your documents |
| Card details you enter or that are read from a card (title, ATA chapter, aircraft type, registration, operator, remarks, date) | Alongside each card as a small JSON file | So your cards stay organised and searchable |
| For the operator, both the airline code and the portal's own spelling of it, as they stood when the card was filed | The same JSON file | So your experience totals count one airline as one airline, whichever portal the card came from |
| Documents opened from a manufacturer portal | Device cache | So re-opening a reference is instant and available offline |
| Pages the App renders into a PDF for you (some portals publish a document as a web page rather than a file) | Device cache | So the reference reads and prints like any other document |
| App settings (language, layout, storage choice, cleanup preferences) | Device settings storage | To remember your preferences |
| Portal session cookies | Device storage, cleared on sign-out | To keep you signed in to a portal you chose |
| Portal credentials — only if you turn on biometric sign-in | Your device Keychain (this device only, available only when unlocked) | So Face ID / Touch ID can sign you in |
You can delete any of this at any time: delete individual cards in the app, use Settings → Clear Cache or Clear Saved Documents, sign out to clear session data, or delete the App.
iCloud
If you choose iCloud storage, your cards sync through your own Apple account, under Apple's privacy terms. The developer has no access to your iCloud container. You can switch to on-device-only storage at any time in Settings → Storage, and the App will move your documents for you.
3. Manufacturer and operator portals
Cross-referencing a task card to its maintenance document is a secondary function. It is available only if you already hold a valid account of your own for a supported portal — currently airnavX (Airbus), MyBoeingFleet (The Boeing Company) and FLYWIN / COMAC IMAP (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China). Everything else in the App works without one.
Important points:
- Sign-in happens on the portal's own web pages, displayed inside the App. Your username, password and any two-factor codes go directly to that portal.
- The App helps you reach documents on that portal's website at your direction, and you see only what your own account is entitled to see.
- Your use of each portal is governed by that portal's own terms and privacy policy and by whatever access your employer or organisation has granted you.
- The developer receives no information about your portal account or activity.
Some portals publish a document as a web page rather than as a file. For those, the App renders the page — the same one that portal's own print button produces — into a PDF on your device, fetching only the illustrations that page refers to. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and no document leaves your device.
The App is not a product of, and is not sponsored, endorsed by, or affiliated with, Airbus, The Boeing Company, COMAC, or any other manufacturer, operator or portal provider. It grants no right of access to any portal.
4. Camera and photo access
- Camera — used only when you choose to scan a task card. Images are processed on your device and saved as your task card. Nothing is uploaded.
- Photos — the App uses the system photo picker, so it sees only the specific images you select; it has no access to your photo library.
- Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Card text is never sent anywhere.
5. Face ID / Touch ID
Biometric sign-in is off by default. If you turn it on, your portal credentials are stored in your device's Keychain (protected, this-device-only) so biometrics can unlock them. The App never sees your biometric data — iOS and macOS only report success or failure. Turning the setting off removes the stored credentials.
6. Diagnostics you choose to send
If you use Report a Problem, the App assembles a diagnostic archive and hands it to the system share sheet. You decide whether to send it and to whom — nothing is transmitted automatically, and it is not sent to the developer unless you choose to send it. Review the contents before sharing, as they may include portal responses relating to your aircraft.
7. Children
The App is a professional aviation-maintenance tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the current version will be available at this URL. Because the App collects no data, we do not expect material changes.
